IELTS Preparation

Four full simulation papers, one for each part of the IELTS Academic test: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Each is timed the way the real paper is, and each is marked the way the real paper can be — by a machine where the answer is a fact, and by a teacher where it is not.

What is inside

• Listening — four recordings and forty questions: a booking enquiry, a park orientation talk, a tutorial discussion and an academic lecture. Each recording plays once, as it does in the exam.
• Reading — three passages and forty questions across the full range of IELTS task types: classification, sentence endings, True/False/Not Given, matching headings, sentence completion and paragraph matching.
• Writing — Task 1, describing a line graph in at least 150 words, and Task 2, a discussion essay of at least 250. A Band 7.0–7.5 model answer for each is shown once yours is in.
• Speaking — the three parts as three sittings: twelve short questions, one topic card with a minute to plan, and a four-question discussion. You record your answers and a teacher listens to them.

How it is marked

Listening and Reading are marked the moment you submit, with the answer key and an estimated band shown afterwards. Writing and Speaking go to a teacher: a real band score for either is issued by a certificated examiner, and no automatic marker can honestly stand in for one. What you get instead is your word count against each minimum, the four official criteria to check yourself against, and a model answer to compare with.

Before you start

Recording your voice needs a microphone and your explicit permission, which you are asked for once, in the app, before the first take. Part 2 expects a pen and paper for your planning minute, exactly as the real test does — nothing you write there is collected.
